Our Process
There are many details to consider when planning a custom landscape; establishing a good relationship with your landscape contractor will pave the way for a successful project. At Aspen, we want you to have the confidence that comes from "knowing what to expect". Below you'll find an overview of the steps that generally make up a custom landscape project.
Initial meeting and site assessment
We'll come to your location to observe the property, make notes, and offer our advice where it's helpful. This gives you a chance to "test the chemistry", and decide if the elements exist for a strong working relationship. It also gives us a chance to determine If our skills are well suited for your project.
Creating a design
At Aspen, we always start a custom landscape project with a plan. This takes the form of a unique Landscape Design. After the initial session, the design process will include 2-4 additional meetings. These meetings allow you to provide input for the design, from concept through detailed working drawings. The last design meeting is held at our own nursery, where we make the final plant selection. This allows you to see and evaluate these plants first hand, prior to installation. Landscape designs start at $500, and the price can vary based on the size and complexity of the site.
If your project is simply an addition, color planting or smaller job (one that wouldn't require a landscape design), please visit our Service division.
Establishing a budget, submitting a bid, creating a timeline
After the landscape design has been completed, we will submit a detailed proposal which outlines all costs associated with completing your project. Your specific budget will determine whether the work is done all at once, or in multiple phases.
Getting to work
Once the schedule has been approved, we will schedule a start date for your project. Upon commencement, our crew of experienced landscape professionals will make your project their singular focus. Our team will come prepared with professional-grade equipment, supplies and materials. We'll keep you integrally involved in the process, reviewing the landscape's transformation in multiple stages.
Making changes
Custom landscaping is a very dynamic process and often undergoes changes throughout construction. These generally come about as a result of our clients' preference, or the specific demands of the site. Our Designer/Project Manager stays involved throughout the project to advise our clients, and help them understand budget implications or site limitations. It is our passion to bring your vision to life and we want your experience to be a great one.
Wrapping it up
As we near completion of your custom landscape, you'll find our crew respectful of your property and neighborhood. Unnecessary equipment and debris is neatly removed from the site, and preparations are made to completely wipe away our "footprint" from the location. At this point, Foremen and Project Managers will double check any mechanical elements (like water pumps), and the overall landscape is compared to the design, to ensure that we are fulfilling your objectives.
Final evaluation
At this point, we proudly perform a landscape "walk-through" with you. We'll review the original plan, and listen to your comments. Once we've received your seal of approval, we'll discuss options for ongoing maintenance, then leave you to enjoy your new outdoor space. As with all natural material, a landscape will grow in beauty and lushness over time, if properly cared for.
